Travel Insurance
Israel requires personal health insurance covering covid related illnesses. Travel Insurance is recommended and companies vary regarding the window of time to purchase trip insurance to cover pre-existing conditions and/or the "cancel for any reason" feature. TravelSafe requires purchasing travel insurance within 21 days of your deposit date and their plans and pricing can be reviewed on their website. You are welcome to use any company for travel insurance and may search companies via InsureMyTrip.com
Trip Preparation
Prior to our departure, we will meet a few times to cover all trip details and travel tips. This will be an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about traveling internationally. Please join us as we begin to build relationships with your travel companions.
Daily Schedule
You will depart the hotel between 7:00-9:00 AM and return late afternoon around 4:00-6:00 PM. Your guide will announce the sightseeing schedule each evening so you may be prepared for the coming day.
You will enjoy A LOT of walking on this trip because you won’t just want to see the sites through your bus window! This walking is done in increments throughout the day and most all walking will be over uneven terrain. The best way to prepare is to begin walking daily now before your trip begins. Break in the shoes that you will walk in during your trip.
Safety In Israel
Israel often tops the list of Christian travel destinations. Despite the area’s historical, cultural, and spiritual significance, many would-be visitors are concerned about the safety of travel in and around Israel. Tourism has long been a major industry in Israel, but recent years have seen it grow significantly. Construction is constant on multiple new hotels as a result of this steady expansion, and many believe it is largely a reflection of the comfort and security guests feel during their stay in the area. The local population is highly aware that hurting tourists can bring disastrous repercussions and deeply impact their livelihood.
Upon arriving in Israel, you’ll notice a number of soldiers in public places. Don’t let the military presence give you the wrong impression. While the sight of armed Israelis may be unsettling at first, their presence helps ensure everyone’s safety. In fact, you will find members of the military to be warm and inviting, even when on duty. Most are even accustomed to having their photos taken with respectful tourists.
While most visitors come to Israel to see ancient and historical sites, the country itself is fully modern. Israel is a democratic state with a $100 billion economy exceeding all the economies of its immediate neighbors combined. It offers every luxury and amenity you’d expect at home, from well appointed hotels and restaurants to beautiful and clean beaches.
Weather
Spring daytime temperatures are very pleasant averaging around 60-70˚F in most of the country. However, it is still hot around the Red Sea and the Dead Sea and in the Negev. Jerusalem averages 40-50˚F in the evening. There may be some light rain, but nothing heavy.
Hotel Accommodations
Hotel rooms will have a private bath, TV and phone. Wifi is available in all hotel's public areas and often in the rooms. Prices are based on two persons sharing a room with private bath. Single rooms are available for an additional cost. If a passenger cannot supply a roommate, there may be a single traveling passenger on the tour which can be matched. If a roommate cannot be found, or a roommate cancels before departure, the traveling guest will pay the supplemental charge for a single room.
Food & Water
Israel’s cuisine is a combination of local dishes native to the Jewish people and foods traditionally eaten in the Mediterranean and Middle East. You can expect large breakfast and dinner buffets at our hotels, which include an amazing variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, yogurts & cheeses; rices, pastas, breads and sauces; salads and fish at every meal as well as only kosher meats. Some of the foods are very American and some are wonderfully Israeli.
A wide variety of choices are available and typically travelers find it is easy to meet their dietary needs at the hotel buffets. If you have notified us of special dietary needs, we have passed these on to our tour partner.
In Israel the water is safe to drink. Bottled water is provided on the tour bus each day.
Tour Buses & Transportation
Our tour bus is a deluxe air conditioned touring coach. Wifi is available on the bus and USB charging outlets are provided.
Shopping
Time will be allotted for shopping. While some will feel that too much time is spent for shopping, others will think it is not enough. Remember that ours is not a shopping tour.
Flight Accommodation
Tickets are available at a group price departing from Minneapolis as we travel together. Tickets cannot be changed once issued. Travelers may purchase their own tickets should they wish to arrive early or stay later, fly via another airline carrier; or purchase tickets with flight miles. Should you purchase your tickets independently, please arrive into Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) by 2:30 pm of Wednesday, May 3, 2023. Our tour group will be landing at that time, and we will all board a bus together to begin our tour immediately that day. Please plan to depart from TLV after Sunday, May 14 at 8:00 am, which is the departure time for those traveling in the group flight.
Passports, Visas & Vaccinations
Your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months beyond your return date or you will be denied boarding the airplane.
US and Canadian citizens do not need a visa for Israel. Non-US citizens (including green card holders) must contact the Israel Consulate.
At this time Israel does not require covid vaccinations nor a negative arrival test.
Age Restrictions
This is a trip for adults – should you request to bring children, we recommend that travelers be age 13 and over. Please contact Rockpoint Church for approval.
