Our Story

In 2019, we're celebrating our fiftieth birthday! God has been writing a faithful story through Rockpoint Church over the years and we're celebrating that on November 3, fifty years and one day after the very first church service as Lakewood Evangelical Free Church.

In 1968,

a group of eleven families from First Evangelical Free Church in St. Paul, began meeting in homes to pray about planting a church in the East Metro. On November 2, 1969, Lakewood Evangelical Free Church held its first service in a local White Bear Lake elementary school.

In 1973,

we built our first permanent facility in White Bear Lake on County Road E.

In 1997,

after nearly three decades of prayer and growth, we outgrew that building and purchased land in Lake Elmo where we started construction on our current facility in 2006. That was about the time we renamed our church to Rockpoint.
