About the Ministry
The Brydges Centre (BC) - Located near Nairobi, Kenya, BC is a children’s home that cares for the physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of orphaned, abandoned and abused children in Kenya. The objective is to help these kids become productive Kenyan citizens with a strong, Christian faith to guide them through life - and God is helping to make that happen!
The BC is called a children’s home and not an orphanage because the children at the BC are not orphans. From the moment they enter the gates, they are members of the BC family. The Centre is home for 132 children, about 75 live in the dormitory. Older students are in boarding school, university, or life skills training.
What will we be doing?
The focus of our trip will be on deepening relationships with our ministry partners in Kenya. Each member will be able to learn about the variety of needs and opportunities within the BC so that we continue to cultivate relationships, build support for the ministry, and grow our love for the children and the staff. We will also develop special projects that are based on the passions and gifts of specific team members in areas that can benefit the BC (teaching, computer help, sports, etc.).
During the course of our time, we will engage in a variety of activities that give each team member a full Kenya experience. Each trip is unique, but all teams will experience multiple visits to Brydges Center events, tours of local schools and ministries that are connected to Brydges relationships, and a three-day, two-night safari in Maasi Mara where you will see and experience the beauty and magnitude of God's creation in Kenya.
What's Included in the trip?
- While each team member will book their own flights to Nairobi, we will all travel on the same flights. Airline costs usually range between $900-$1200 per person.
- In-country transportation and food is covered by a $550-650 per person fee that is managed by your trip leaders.
- The three-day, two-night Maasi Mara safari cost is $750+/- per person, and will be coordinated by your trip leaders.
- Each team member will also need to ensure they have proper vaccinations and sufficient spending money for special purchases and some meals during travel to and from Nairobi.
Team gatherings are crucial for the success of the trip and all team members will participate. We will work through questions, details and the logistics of our travel, including packing the needed supplies and resources we will be bringing to the BC.
