Jameson & Kristen Bast

ReachGlobal & Black Forest Academy
background

Jameson grew up in Minnesota and attended Bethel University where he graduated with a degree in art and business. He taught art classes at Tartan High School in Oakdale for nine years. During and after his college years, Jameson was involved with: Young Life Capernaum Greater Minneapolis, a youth group in south Minneapolis, and Royal Servants (Reign Ministries) in Europe.

Kristen grew up as an MK in Austria, where her parents were church planters. She attended Bethel University, graduated with a degree in Nursing and was open to using her degree anywhere around the globe. (Jameson and Kristen met at Bethel) Kristen has experience working as a nurse in Home Care in the Twin Cities area, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, and doing Foot Care Clinics with Presbyterian Homes.

In 2011, Jameson and Kristen went on a vision trip to Uganda and Kenya where they visited and volunteered with Hope Alive! and Heshima Children’s Center. Jameson has been on the Board with Heshima Children’s Center, based in Kenya for the past 11 years.

They have four children, Joelle (9yrs), Amber (7yrs), Kara (5yrs) and Nathan (3yrs).

Following God’s calling towards Black Forest Academy, in Germany, they connected with EFCA Reach Global as a sending agency, and started working at BFA in the fall of 2022.

ministry details

BFA is an International Christian School that provides quality and affordable education to its students, many of whom are Missionary kids. They partner with families involved with Bible translation, church planting, medical missions, flight-supply missions, refugee ministries, college and sports ministries, and with ministries working with widows and orphans. They have families serving in 40 countries (primarily in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East).

All staff at BFA go through Missions Agencies and raise their own support to keep the cost low for missionary families, empowering Missions through education, while teaching and caring for the students at the school.

Jameson is working as an art teacher and is the department head. This year he is teaching yearbook and ceramics courses and is building relationships with students. Kristen is helping out with the health office part-time and is using her German skills to make doctors appointments for students. She is also co-leading a small group of sophomore girls.

By serving at Black Forest Academy, they want to teach and care for students at the school and make it possible for missionaries to continue to serve in areas of the world where quality education is difficult to find.

  • For our family as we continue to adjust to our new rhythm in Germany.

  • To keep growing relationships with students and our German neighbors.

  • Praise for God’s provisions.
