BACKGROUND

Doug and Cheryl Conrad serve with ReachGlobal’s Saitama Team, working alongside Japanese churches to share the gospel and establish new Christ-centered communities. Their connection to Japan spans decades: Doug grew up there as the son of missionaries, and he and Cheryl later served together in Sendai and Fukuoka. Throughout their ministry, they have led outreach for children, young adults, and women, taught English classes, and helped develop local ministry efforts.

With Rockpoint’s support, Doug and Cheryl returned to Japan in November 2025 to help plant a new church in Nishi Omiya, a growing community in the Saitama area northwest of Tokyo. The church celebrated its first worship service on Easter Sunday 2026 and continues to connect with the community through weekly services, English classes, children’s activities, and other outreach events.

Doug currently pastors the church with the long-term goal of entrusting its leadership to a Japanese pastor. Together, he and Cheryl also help train, encourage, and support other missionaries serving throughout the region.
